St. Louis Cat Clinic is offering a 3 year Rabies vaccine. This new vaccine is a recombinant vaccine-NO adjuvants. Dr. Freesh prefers to wait when a new vaccine is available to see whether any major problems appear when in wide use. The same wait is done for new medications. This vaccine has been in use for about a year at this time and the St. Louis Cat Clinic veterinarians are confident that it is a safe and good vaccine. Recombinant vaccines are not likely to cause fibrosarcoma tumors at the vaccination injection site. Adjuvanted vaccines have been proven to cause the tumors in 1 in 10,000 cats. All vaccines used at St. Louis Cat Clinic are either modified live virus (no adjuvants) or recombinant vaccines (no adjuvants). We use the safest vaccines!
If you are interested in the 3 year Rabies vaccines, ask for it at the reception desk or ask the veterinarian. Recombinant vaccines cost more and worth the cost for safety for our cats.
