CLINICAL STUDIES ARE STILL OPEN

cat-bp-300x2461.The High Blood Pressure cat study is still doing free screenings looking for cats with moderate high blood pressure to help with the approval of a new high blood pressure medication for cats that will be a once a day liquid. This will be an excellent medication. Dr. Freesh can screen any cat 7 years or older every 6 months. Shaving a small place on one leg or tail and applying a cuff to the leg is how a blood pressure is taken in a cat. Cats cannot be diabetic, must be eating well, not on atenolol/other blood pressure medications/corticosteroids/or NSAIDS. Cats must be cooperative for the procedure to screen. Most of them are fine doing it. Please make an appointment with Dr. Freesh. There is a financial incentive for participation. Cats that have controlled Kidney Insufficiency and/or controlled Hyperthyroidism will earn a $100 gift card if they screen whether they do or do not have high blood pressure.

2.The Arthritis clinical study is still doing free screenings looking for cats with clinical symptoms and x-ray confirmation of arthritis to help gain approval for a new arthritis medication for cats. This looks like it will be a very good medication for cats so far. Symptoms of arthritis in a cat may be simply hesitation to jump up and down from and to furniture, slow progress up and down stairs, limping, stiffness when getting up, or just sleeping more rather than moving around. Cats cannot be taking any corticosteroids or NSAIDs, and cannot have diabetes. Cats must be cooperative for exams, and procedures. There is a financial incentive for participation. Please make an appointment with Dr. Freesh. The screening appointment is about one hour. Clients may board their cat during the day to screen at no charge. Evening appointments do not allow enough time to take x-rays, process blood and urine samples for the laboratory, and have the owner fill out information about their cat; so boarding appointments have proven to be the way to do this.

Please screen your cats and assist in the development of good new medications.
